New Deal Art Now: Reframing The Artifacts Of Diversity
Curated by Jessica Allee
Featuring Audio Recordings Produced by Alex Kirt
New Deal Art Now: Reframing The Artifacts Of Diversity was an exhibit installed at the University Museum at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
The exhibit featured artworks that were commissioned by the WPA.
Curator Jessica Allee presented Alex Kirt (MFA graduate student and audio engineer) with a collection of song lyrics that had been collected by the WPA project.
Alex Kirt then produced five audio recordings featuring local Southern Illinois musicians. Each musician or group selected a song from the list curated by Allee to arrange and perform in their own style.
These recordings were included as a part of the exhibit installation in the University Museum from June to November 2014.
